Riley joined the Indiana Business Research Center in July 2018 as a part-time assistant economic researcher and became a full-time data analyst soon after. His primary role at the IBRC is analyzing, curating and maintaining data for the Regional Economic Development (RED) Project, a national research project supported by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The RED Project leverages conventional and unconventional data sets to create actionable data and a suite of web-based tools for economic development practitioners and policymakers.
Prior to joining IBRC, Riley worked at the City of Bloomington Department of Planning and Transportation on environmental planning and sustainability programs.
Riley holds a Master of Public Affairs from the Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in English, also from Indiana University. His research interests include community and economic development, social capital, economic resilience, and urban planning and transportation.
