Economic Forecasts
Our center provides 3 distinct economic forecast offerings: the BBKI acts as a monthly barometer of where the economy is and where it might be heading; CEMR produces forecasts for the nation, Indiana and Indiana metropolitan areas; and Futurecast offers annual economic outlook events around the state each fall.
BBKI indicates economic activity below trend in August
The latest release of the Brave-Butters-Kelley Indexes (BBKI) has the coincident indicator at -0.4 for August, a slight downtick from our estimate for July of -0.3.
CEMR U.S. forecast for October changed little
The diminished flow of economic data over the past month leaves our picture of the current economic situation little changed, but uncertainty has increased.
The Futurecast economic outlook tour brings together faculty and community business leaders to make sense of the economic forecast for 2026. It begins Oct. 29 and will travel to 11 Indiana cities.
